Mexican Gummies

Ingredients

3 cups white sugar (some people use powdered sugar, I haven't tried that yet)
3 teaspoons table salt
1-3 teaspoons Chile, Ancho, or Cayenne powder (depends on how spicy you want it)
1 5 oz bottle of Tajin (or your favorite chili lime fruit seasoning)
1 cup Chamoy sauce (I used Mango flavored, regular is fine too. If you are not familiar with this condiment here is an article about it)

Directions

Mix sugar, salt, chili powder, and Tajin in a large bowl. Continue mixing until it's all a uniformly reddish color. This will take a few, don't be in a hurry. You want it to be as completely uniform as you can get it.

Next, slowly add the Chamoy sauce in steps, until you reach the right consistency. This will be about 1 cup, add more if needed (depending on your preference of thickness).

You will end up with A LOT of syrup. I can douse a whole five-pound bag of peach-o's from Amazon with this recipe (your mileage may vary). Feel free to use whatever gummy candy is your favorite!

Though maybe you don't want five pounds of Mexican gummies so what to do, what to do.

GIRL. (Or guy.) SO MANY THINGS.

IDEAS FOR THE SYRUP

-Fresh Fruit (mango, pineapple, oranges, watermelon)
-Dried Fruit (pineapple, mango, apricot)
-Sliced Veggies (jicama, cucumber, tomatoes)
-Candy (peach-os, watermelon gummies, tropical heat hot tamales)
-Cocktails/Drinks (margaritas, lemonade)
-Chips (hint of lime, salt and vinegar)
-Frozen fruit bars (strawberry, watermelon, mango)
I rimmed a simple mixed drink of tequila and citrus sparkling water with the syrup, then dipped in Tajin:
And then garnished with a tamarind candy stick (which doubles as a straw)! Basically what I am telling you is this syrup is going to be a summer staple in my house.
